Frequently asked questions.
Q: What is IV Therapy?
A: Intravenous (IV) Therapy is a simple treatment that delivers fluids directly into your bloodstream through a small IV inserted into your arm. The fluids may also include vitamins, electrolytes, antioxidants and even medication in the mix. By allowing fluids to circulate quickly through your body, hydration therapy rapidly replenishes fluids and allows 100% absorption of vitamins and minerals in a way that digestion can’t.
Q: Is IV Therapy new? Why haven’t I heard of it before?
A: The idea of getting fluids and selected vitamins and minerals through an IV is not new at all. If you’ve ever been in the ER or stayed in the hospital, you’ve probably experienced this already. But being able to selectively schedule hydration therapy on an outpatient basis is a relatively new opportunity. When you feel the need for fast hydration, recovering from illness or preparing for surgery, you can simply schedule an appointment and give your body the support it needs.
Q: How long does an IV session take?
A: The whole process will take 45-120 minutes to complete, depending on the type of infusion chosen. There are a few forms to complete prior to your infusion as well as a quick medical assessment.
Q: Why would I need IV therapy?
A: IV therapy can be used for a number of reasons. Some people seek IV hydration as a hangover cure or for migraine treatment. Others find it useful for athletic recovery, stress relief or as a way to rehydrate after a long flight or an illness. There is also tremendous anti-aging benefits by utilizing the 100% nutrient bio-availability. IV Therapy is also routinely used in support of cancer treatments.
Q: Can’t I just take vitamins for my nutrients?
A: When taken orally, only a fraction (20-40% or less) of the essential nutrients are absorbed due to a variety of factors: unhealthy diet, insufficient essential nutrients, widespread prevalence of gastrointestinal problems, chronic illness and more. With IV nutrient therapy, 100% of the nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream, where they can immediately be used by your body.
Q: How often should I get an IV?
A: The frequency of IV therapy is determined on a patient by patient basis. We take a customized approach to suit your individual needs. For preventative health and wellness, we recommend two IV drips per month to help balance out any vitamin deficiencies.
Q: What ailments are addressed by IV nutrient therapy?
A: There is a “cocktail” for nearly any condition, and we recommend it for overall wellbeing! IV nutrient therapy supports:
Anti-aging
Allergies/asthma
Athletic performance
Chronic fatigue and brain fog
Detoxification
Energy improvement
Hangovers
Headaches and migraine
Improved immunity
Longevity
Q: What should I do to prepare?
A: It is always wise to drink plenty of water and have a small snack prior to your appointment. But don’t worry if you didn’t have time, we have complementary drinks and snacks here too! We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that leaves the veins in your inner elbow exposed and layering for temperature control. Be sure to bring a good book or headphones with you as you sit and relax and enjoy the treatment. We dispense pillows and blankets to suit your comfort levels, as well as provide dividers between stations if you would like a more private session.
Q: Does it hurt?
A: Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, but we strive to stick everyone just once with our experienced Registered Nurses. That said, we do offer lidocaine and a numbing spray if you would like!
Q: How much does it cost?
A:In general, our IV Infusions are around $110-$350, depending on the selected option and if you include any of our add-on nutrients.
